happy (almost) lunar new year, everybody. some various things i’ve been thinking about/doing lately:
- issue #36 of sine theta dropped today - check it out and order yourself a copy! lots of lovely, exciting, thoughtful work in this one, + an interview i conducted with my friend kwan ann tan about her interactive fiction game The Waiter. (her novel A Family Inconvenience is also available for preorder!!) a preview of the interview (design also by me):

- went to my friend E’s LNY dumpling folding party. we folded MANY dumplings (i did a terrible job as i have no idea how to do this) and ate lots of dumplings and snacks and dessert.
- for valentine’s day, i baked a chocolate chiffon cake (recipe by justonecookbook), which turned out better than i expected, since the last cake i did that used egg whites totally failed to rise and looked like a pancake. my partner C & i went to a seafood restaurant for lunch, played an escape room (which sadly we failed - escape rooms are hard with only two people!! i’d gladly go back with a larger group), we did some shopping at a cute gift store near the escape room, and then he cooked some fish for dinner.
- C and i moved apartments a few weeks ago. we’re still in NYC, just a different neighborhood. honestly moving was an absolutely horrible experience—especially during this snowstorm—but the new apartment is a huge quality of life upgrade. we have over double the space and i have a home office now!!! i’m excited to actually have space to do some of my hobbies…sewing in a studio apartment was BRUTAL and now i finally own a computer monitor, which feels crazy to have delayed for so long since i work in tech lol.
- i haven’t had as much time to Consume Media recently as i would want, but recently i’ve enjoyed:
- Samin Nosrat’s Salt Fat Acid Heat (i learned NOTHING about cooking growing up and didn’t really grow up in a household passionate about food)
- the short film Butterfly (2024) dir. Florence Miailhe
- The Chronology of Water (2025) dir. Kristen Stewart
- and i’m finally reading homestuck with my friend Joan (well, it’s a reread for xem as they are a Homestuck Expert. hi joan!)
alright i’m getting sleepy and alas i have a dismaying amount of admin work, and unpacking work, and various other forms of work to do…so that’s all for now. good night <3
